Picture This: A Mid-summer Mini-cruise

We took a 5 day mini-cruise south of Muskegon over July 4th and visited Grand Haven, Port Sheldon, Saugatuck, and Holland before returning home. I'm again amazed at just how revitalizing cruising as a family aboard a small boat can be. The compilation of pictures below tells the story better than I could ever hope to in words.

  1. Where are those dunes? I want to be sure to get there when we finally leave this godforsaken dock.

  2. The dunes are at Saugatuck Dunes State Park and are definately on the "can't miss" list for passing cruisers.

  3. I found your blog via SailNet -- I think. :) Our family is just getting interested in sailing and eventually cruising. I loved seeing pictures of your family and look forward to following your adventures while we prepare for our own!

  5. I also came across your blog via Sailnet and I am very glad that I did. We also cruise with our children (7 y/o twins) throughout the summers. We live in Grand Rapids, but our boat is currently on the hard in Northport for the winter. What are your cruising plans for next summer? I hope that our paths cross at some time. We always keep an eye out for cruising families with young kids.

    1. Thanks Robert. This coming summer (2014) we'll likely head north again, maybe spend some time in Leland, S. Manitou, Mackinac Island, and Traverse Bay. We were initially thinking about going to Chicago, but the ports between there and Muskegon aren't as interesting to us as all of the northern ports. As you may have seen, we now have a C-34 (Bearly-A-Wake). We'll look for you on the water!
